It’s not just a roof. It’s the top covering of your home. And it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, your home is your refuge from the world. Right? So, when it comes time to do something about the top covering, the last thing you should expect is for the project to lead to some sort of unlawful acts. But, sadly it happens.
As in this unlawful acts story:
A roofing company, in a county outside of the area where Jack Caton Roofing provides services, “engaged in ‘unlawful acts and practices’ when they performed no work or services. And ‘provided no material benefit’ to a customer, who entered into the roofing contract after being referred to the business by a friend. And that’s according to a June 21 petition filed in ******** County District Court. The petition alleges (name withheld for obvious reasons) violated the ************ Consumer Protection Act. And that which is meant to prevent deceptive, unconscionable and fraudulent business practices and gives consumers an avenue to sue.
********* could not be reached for comment despite multiple emailed requests, and a phone number for ***********, listed on its website, wasn’t working when The ******** called. Neither ********* nor his business had filed a formal answer to the DA’s lawsuit as of Friday, and there was no lawyer for either listed in court records.”
As bad as all that sounds, it was actually worse. Because “chief attorney for the DA’s Consumer Protection Division, said in a July 19 email that the customer had not received a refund from ******* or **************.”
